Mobile Energy Education Training Unit
Drake Well Museum
Tuesday August 16th
The concept for the Mobile Energy Education Training Unit (MEET-U) came about during the fall of 2007 due to the then upcoming renovations at the Drake Well Museum. The trailer humbly began life designed as a fourteen foot cargo trailer but has grown into the forty-four foot long, thirteen foot high exhibit you see today. The idea was to take an oil and gas industry energy assembly experience around to Western PA elementary schools to suppliment their pending museum visits. It was quickly realized energy ignorance was not just rampant within elementary schools but within our communities too.

The current exhibit is a result of many hours of hard work by a few very dedicated people. We will never consider the exhibit to be finished as it is designed to constantly change and adapt. Fundraising continues today as we hope to be able to add animation and interactives to our exhibit. In the not so distant future, we forsee the abilty for the exhibit to change quickly to meet the needs of not only elementary students but the general public, industry works, and high school students.

Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab
PA Farm Bureau - PA Friends of Ag Foundation
Thursday August 18th
Friday August 19th
Saturday August 20th
PA Farm Bureau's Mobile Ag Ed Science Lab may be just what you’re looking for! A mobile agriculture education science lab, complete with all supplies and a certified teacher, travels to different elementary, middle schools, and fairs in Pennsylvania. The lab is designed to target grades K through 8.

A 32 ft. trailer, complete with heating and air conditioning, the mobile lab contains 12 work stations. Each station provides space for 2-3 students to complete hands-on experiments. The lab accommodates up to 900 students per week, by teaching (5-6) 50 minute science classes per day.

The science curriculum taught meets Pennsylvania Department of Education Science and Technology and Environment and Ecology Standards and is endorsed by the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. The children perform hands-on science experiments, each teaching a lesson in agriculture. Teachers are able to utilize supplies and equipment not ordinarily available in traditional classroom settings. The experiments performed include equipment and supplies not readily available to classroom teachers and are of a nature that most teachers wouldn't want to tackle in a traditional classroom setting. Each science experiment is designed to emphasize a different aspect of agriculture, including Pennsylvania's primary commodities, the environment, biotechnology, food and fiber, etc...Children work cooperatively to solve a problem as they form a hypothesis, collect data and draw conclusions.

Vicenta's White Tigers
Two Shows Daily
Monday August 15th-Saturday August 20th
Vicenta comes from a long line of circus performers on both sides of her family. She was born into the great Pages performing dynasty. She grew up surrounded by all kinds of animals. Not just dogs and horses but camels, elephants, and tigers too. Her feline co-stars are white striped Bengals. Four females and two males. Their names: Spirit, Fiona, Kia, Mikayla, Mohan, and Taurus.

While Vicenta is an extraordinary tiger trainer, her circus repertoire also includes impressive aerial skills such as the flying trapeze, lyra, and roman rings being her specialty. Vicenta made her first public appearance at the age of four. Her first solo appearance she made at age eight in an act featuring four ponies. At age 12 she was all ready performing her aerial rings.

Growing up on Circus Pages around aerial and animals, Vicenta decided to take after her grandfathers footsteps, working with tigers. First with her grandfather and father by her side, after many years of training she developed this beautiful act. Vicenta has 6 children, her tigers raised from age 14 months and that's the special bond that separates her from others!

Bruce Belanger has never won a lumberjack competition but that does not prevent the founder of the Great Lakes Timber Show from introducing himself as the current and five-time trystate champion. He has tried in every state and hasn't won a darn thing although he thinks it helps to have a title to get hired.

The Escamaba, MI native began logrolling when he was 17 years old. He worked with the Hank Peters Lumberjack Show for many years before beginning the Great Lakes Timber Show 20 years ago.

Traveling is the toughest part of the business but getting laughs from little kids and adults far outweigh the burdens of traveling. Life on the road does have its advantages. Numerous celebrities have appeared at his shows, including two defensive ends for the New York Giants who attempted the logrolling event. He also met his wife at a fair.

The Great Lakes Timber Show has appeared at State Fairs, County Fairs, Theme Parks, Festivals and Sport Shows across the United States for over 20 years. Members of the show have appeared on ABC's Wide World of Sports, ESPN, CBS This Morning, NBC Today and Good Morning America.
